Connecting with God is about a relationship. God desires all of us to experience His amazing love and grace.
Step 1 - Accept Jesus Christ.
God sent us His only Son (John 3:16), so that we could experience His love first hand. The Bible says that all of us have sin (Romans 3:23) in our lives and we all need a savior. So, God put on flesh and visited us in the person of Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect life, went to the cross, and three days later rose from the dead. Today He sits at the right hand of God praying for us. This is the first step in having a healthy relationship with God.
Step 2 - Start reading a Bible everyday.
The Bible is God's living word for our lives. God speaks to us through His word. There is no other book like it on the planet. Every time we read our Bible, we give God an opportunity to shape and grow us. The growing Christian reads his/her Bible everyday as part of the daily agenda. At Journey of Faith we have Bible Reading Plans that could help you get underway. We can also provide you with a Bible if you don't have one.
If you would like to read the bible on-line check out http://www.biblegateway.com/ orhttp://www.blueletterbible.org/. If you have questions about Christianity this is a good site to visit http://www.christiananswers.net/.
Step 3 - Get baptized.
In the Bible we read that people were baptized after they accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Baptism is a public demonstration of your new relationship with Jesus Christ. You are kind of like a billboard of God's grace and love. Jesus Himself was baptized. If you would like more information on getting baptized please e-mail us at baptism@Journey of Faith.net.
Step 4 - Attend Church every Sunday.
Church is God's idea. Jesus Christ went to the cross because of His love for the church. The Bible tells us that the church is the body of Jesus Christ. When people go to church, they worship God by joining with other people who want to do life with God. They also connect with people in a Small Group. Small Groups are a place where people experience love, support, and encouragement from other Christians. The church is also a facilitator of the gifts that God has given you. God has shaped us and has given us talents and gifts, so that we can use them for His purpose. God wants to use us! Volunteering is a big part of being a growing Christian.
There are seven habits of a God-Driven life, which become evident in a person who chooses to do life with God. You can read about them under "Journey of Faithers" by clicking on "seven habits". There are Bible references for each habit.
